Pendle Triathlon 2012 - Are you up for it?

Do you fancy taking on a new challenge next year? Something that will test your skills and stamina?

Why not compete in Pendle Triathlon 2012? And Pendle Leisure Trust will help you all the way.

Pendle Leisure Trust has devised an inspirational idea to motivate people into preparing and achieving a personal goal with a boot-camp style programme that will last from now right up to the event.

The date for Pendle Triathlon 2012 is Sunday, April 29th.

One of the fastest growing competitive sports in the country, contestants will take part in the three disciplines in a test of stamina, strength and determination in and around West Craven Sports Centre.

Following the official format of swimming, cycling and running, this non-transitional event will comprise of swimming 750m and cycling 22km - completing two circuits of the course which covers Salterforth, Kelbrook, Sough, Earby and Thornton-in-Craven.

The run route will be mainly off road, utilizing public footpaths and canal bridle paths to finish the 5 km course opposite West Craven Sports Centre.

If you have thought about doing a Triathlon, but haven’t known how to prepare for it, then Pendle Leisure Trust has the answer with a boot camp style programme to help you train properly.

The sessions will include swimming, cycling and running endurance training, strength training, speed training, core stability and hill sessions, to name but a few.

The course, which will be held at West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick,  will be run by a qualified instructor who has experience of competing in the event.

Centre Manager at West Craven Sports Centre, Paul Whittaker, said: “We have a good number of entrants each year, but we always get people who would love to compete, but are unsure of what training to do to prepare for it.

“So we have come up with a boot camp style programme to help these people train and compete under the watchful eye of one of our experienced instructors who has taken part in the event himself – and is doing so again next year.”
