For a long time John Thompson was unhappy with his appearance and had little confidence in the way he looked.

“It was only after seeing pictures taken from a family holiday in 2014, that I noticed just how big I had got and how much extra weight I was carrying. Not having an active job and not the healthiest of diets, the extra weight soon crept on.

“In January 2015, as a family we joined Pendle Wavelengths on a Family Membership and made the plunge into living more active, healthier lives.

“In the beginning the training was tough due to my poor fitness level. I would train up to four times a week often starting with a bike ride and cross training, moving onto weights for muscle building. Coupled together with cutting out sugary foods and generally eating healthier, I soon noticed the weight loss and within a couple of months I had lost just under one and a half stones.

“Since joining the gym I have always been able to approach the instructors for advice and tips on continuing my fitness, they always take the time to listen and help, and give the best possible advice based on my requirements.

“After just five months of training, I had lost over two stones and really noticed the difference, not just in the way I looked, but also in my confidence. I would say the only downside was none of my clothes fit me anymore, but that’s not really a bad thing though!

“Joining the gym has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time, not only do I feel healthier and look thinner, I have gained confidence in my every day activities and at work.
