Swimathon 2019

Wednesday, 24th April 2019

Pendle Leisure Trust staff encouraged the people of Pendle to take the plunge and get involved in the world’s biggest annual fundraising swim.

Swimathon - a challenge for anyone and everyone – is organised to raise vital funds for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK.

The Trust welcomed swimmers of all ages and abilities to join the challenge at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne.

The Swimathon was open to teams and individuals with a choice of challenges - 400ms, 1.5kms, 2.5kms, 5kms; as well as a Corporate Challenge for people to do with work colleagues or the MySwimathon Challenge for those who wanted to swim their own distance in their own time.

Over 23 swimmers took part in the event, with plenty of support and spectators watching from the pool side.

Samantha Lamb, Assistant Manager at Pendle Leisure Centre, said: “Over the years we’ve raised thousands of pounds for charity through this national event – it’s a great way to keep fit, have fun and raise money for a fantastic cause all at the same time.”
