THE MEMBER

Emma joined Pendle Wavelengths in January 2016 after she received an email offering her a free week’s trail at the facility.

Her story is inspiring:

“In May 2015, I was looking at mobility scooters because I was unable to walk my daughter to nursery due to a spinal condition. I did not really want to be in that situation, so I decided I would try and get myself stronger and lose a little bit of weight as I was at my heaviest at 18 stone.

“I joined Pendle Wavelengths in January 2016, by this point I had lost 3 stone on my own, but the weight loss had stopped. I had my first two inductions with Rab and John who were great. Fiona then made me my first programme. I think without the programme I wouldn’t have lasted this long in the gym and best of all, this is a free service that comes as part of your membership.

“I then decided to try one of Jo’s classes, as soon as the class finished I was hooked and you couldn’t keep me away!

“Since being with Wavelengths, I have lost a further 6 stone by going to classes and following my programme in the gym. I have officially lost more than half of my body weight and I now weigh 8st 13lbs. I am healthier, happier and best of all, I don’t even have to think about that mobility scooter!

“Joining Pendle Wavelengths has helped me because the instructors are always there for you. Jo and Fiona have played a massive part in my fitness journey and I know I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have without them.

“In May 2016, I took part and successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk. I have gone from being the girl who couldn’t walk her daughter to nursery, to climbing 3 mountains and covering 24 miles in 1 day.

“I have now decided I want to help others in the way I was inspired, so I have just started my Level 2 Gym Instructors’ qualification. I am also taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks again with the PLT gym team hoping to beat last year’s time.”

THE INSTRUCTOR

Fiona Cowgill, a Fitness Instructor at Pendle Wavelengths, has worked for Pendle Leisure Trust for 4 years.

She said: “I have a degree in Sport Studies, specialise in group exercise and I’m a qualified Personal Trainer.

“Having lost 2 stone myself in the past year, I know all the ups and downs of a weight loss journey and can help anyone along the same path. I have taken up running and I have just taken part in my first Half Marathon!”
