Can exercise improve your mental health?

Monday, 10th October 2016

It’s no secret that exercise is good for your body, but did you know that it is also one of the best ways to improve your mental health?

There are many benefits to regular exercise but perhaps one of the most valuable, is the sense of well-being it brings. Exercise is one of the best remedies for mental health, and here’s why…

There are many misconceptions surrounding exercise particularly in a gym environment. You don’t have to be a fitness fanatic to take part and all of the Pendle Leisure gyms, are inclusive to all, regardless of your age or motivation. Going to the gym isn’t just about lifting weights! Whether you attend an exercise class, go swimming or use a cardio-vascular machine, you’ll find the right form of exercise for you.

One person who used exercise to improve their mental health is Tony Robinson, the recent star of our Average Dan to Action Man billboard campaign. Tony was diagnosed with depression 5 years ago, and has used exercise as a means of making a positive change. You can find out more about his story here.
