About

RED January 2019

Tuesday, 18th December 2018

Next month, Pendle Leisure Trust is inviting Activo members to take part in its RED January challenge – a campaign set up by the charity MIND to encourage people to exercise daily.

Initially standing for ‘Run Every Day’, 2019’s RED January event encourages you to care for your mental health by doing something active every day of the month.

87% of people who took part in RED January 2018 said they felt better both mentally and physically after taking part.

Whether it’s running, walking to work, swimming or trying new fitness classes, MIND wants people to kick-start 2019 in the most positive way.

What do I have to do?

Taking part is simple and it’s free to join. Simply collect a RED January activity card from reception at one of our centres – Pendle Leisure Centre, West Craven Sports Centre, Seedhill AFC and Pendle Wavelengths – and get it signed each time you work out.

Whether you hit the gym or jump in the pool - any physical activity counts.

If you’re not a fan of the treadmill and prefer walking or running outdoors, you can still take part; just make sure you join our RED January Strava club and log your walks/runs on there. Download the Strava app, sign up and search for PLTREDJAN.

January 1st = free day

All of our centres are closed on the first of January, so don’t worry about getting to the gym that day – we’re giving you that one for free! (You can still log your New Year’s Day walk or jog on Strava).

Prizes!

There are prizes up for grabs too! Hand your completed activity cards in at reception by the February 3rd and you’ll be entered into our prize draw where we’ll draw winners at random.

Plus, if you sign up through the charity itself, they’ll send you an info pack and a FREE pair of red shoe laces for your trainers.
