Chlorine: Keeping You Safe & Our Pools Clean

Tuesday, 23rd March 2021

It’s no secret that all swimming pools use chlorine to keep them clean. But what does this not-so-secret ingredient actually do and how does it keep you safe from germs and viruses?

We know that returning back to ‘normal’ after the pandemic can be a little daunting for some and it’s understandable that safety is at the forefront of most of our minds.

From deep cleaning all of our facilities and implementing social distancing, to regular cleaning and new staff training - we’re making sure that we’re ready and raring to go when we reopen our leisure centre doors. Not only does this mean all of our staff are safe, but YOU are too!

But how are you kept safe while swimming?

The disinfecting power of chlorine is the answer!

Chlorine is a chemical element which is added to water to kill bacteria, including viruses. This magic sanitiser rids swimming pools of germs and is completely safe for us to swim in. In fact, when added, it works quickly and can clean the water within minutes.

Although chlorinated water banishes germs and viruses, it’s still essential that we all follow hygiene and safety guidelines when coming for a swim…

When we reopen, all swim sessions will require booking so that our pools aren’t overcrowded and we can safely maintain social distancing. All of our pools will be reopening on Monday 12th April according to the Government’s roadmap.

We’re really looking forward to opening our pools once more and see you all again.

See you soon!
