Exercise During Lockdown

Monday, 22nd February 2021

Lockdown has forced us into a new way of life. From socialising and hobbies, to exercise and work, lockdown has been a game-changer for us all.

A recent survey from MacMillan Cancer Support has revealed that an estimated 7 million people across Britain have taken up running over the last 12 months during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Which got us thinking about how our exercise routines have changed since our leisure centres closed and what we can do to keep active during lockdown.

Running

Running is a great exercise that anyone can do… and it’s absolutely free! Plus, outdoor exercise is a great way to help you feel calmer and more positive and it’s known to boost your mental wellbeing as well as your physical fitness.

Home Exercises

From home workout videos to YouTube exercises, there are lots of resources online for you to create your own exercise routines that you can do at home. We also create weekly workout videos for our members and do weekly live classes with our instructors on our exclusive Facebook page.

Equipment

Sales from exercise equipment have gone up over the last 12 months as people have turned to working out in their own homes. From dumbbells to exercise bikes, there’s lots of things you can get to use at home to maintain your workout routine from the comfort of your front room.

Walking

As outings are limited one of the best ways we can stay active and keep moving is to go for a walk. Not only do walks give us a breath of fresh air and a change of scenery, but they’re a great way to gain a little headspace and explore our local surroundings.

Exercising and life may not be the same as it once was, but we can still stay active and do our best to keep moving while at home.

We hope you’re all staying safe and we hope to see you all again soon!
