Arts for Wellbeing Pendle - August Exhibition

Thursday, 21st July 2022

Arts for Wellbeing Pendle will be making an impression this August with their upcoming Arts Exhibition.

The group was set up by Pendle Leisure Trust with funding from the Council for Voluntary Services and The Arts Council England and so far they have facilitated classes for Painting and Drawing, Storytelling, Art and Wellbeing, Ceramics and Textiles. The group are putting on an exhibition in Colne this August to showcase their work, which will be a diverse range of artwork including Sculpture, Multimedia, Ceramics, Textiles, Paintings and Sketches and even some creative writing pieces.

Project Co-Ordinator Lauren Jackson says “Our participants mainly suffer isolation, depression, long-term pain or illness and anxiety. Art plays such a valuable role in helping them as it boosts confidence, lowers stress levels and creates a feeling of focus and calm. Many people have described our sessions as providing a relaxing distraction from everyday life and have described our service as “essential” and “a lifeline” and has made a huge difference to the well-being of their everyday lives. Some direct feedback has been:

“fantastic group – helped me to socialise and not be so isolated”, “thoroughly enjoyed everything – Looked forward to each week. My BP has gone down and I have come off 2 tablets”, “I now go out of the house more because of coming to the group”, “I have enjoyed today, I feel like a different person” and “this group is my lifeline, it must continue!”

We are so proud of the artists and participants who have worked so hard to create this installation – it really should be seen by as many people as possible, so please come and have a look. Every single art piece has a journey and a story behind it and it means a lot to us to share this work with the community”

The Arts for Wellbeing Pendle Exhibition is a free display and is available to view Friday 12th August – Saturday 20th August At The Glass Box, Colne Market, inside the market and at Colne Library. There will be more sessions available in the coming months, so for more information, please email Lauren Jackson at Lauren.jackson@pendleleisuretrust.co.uk or call 01282 661529
