Guerrilla Campaign Marks 21 Years for Homeless & Domestic Violence Charity

Thursday, 6th December 2018

Pendle Leisure Trust is backing a campaign aimed at raising awareness of youth homelessness and domestic violence.

Lancashire based charity - Positive Action in the Community (PAC) - is marking its 21st birthday with a guerrilla poster campaign throughout Pendle and Rossendale by placing 21 pavement posters across the two boroughs.

Posters have been laid outside the Trust’s three leisure centres - Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne, Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson and West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick - to help promote the charity’s campaign across three of Pendle’s towns.

The charity has supported families affected by domestic abuse, young people experiencing homelessness and more recently supported those with emotional health and well-being difficulties.

Charity Manager, Claire Bennett, explained: “This campaign is about raising awareness and getting these critical subjects onto everyone’s agenda and in everyone’s conversation. These issues affect hundreds of people in our local community every year, and therefore we need to ensure that as a whole community we tackle them together.

Most people in the areas we serve won’t even realise the problem with youth homelessness, yet we’re providing accommodation for 33 young people at any one time. It’s about getting people to realise this is an issue happening right under their noses, this isn’t just a Manchester problem and it’s one that can affect anyone, regardless of age or background.”
