Pendle Leisure Trust Visit Daisy Group to Support Health and Wellbeing Scheme

Monday, 8th April 2019

Pendle Leisure Trust staff popped along to Daisy Group in Nelson to support its Health and Wellbeing Scheme.

Fitness instructors carried out health checks and taster sessions, including BMI and blood pressure checks, organised a competition for staff to test a tornado bike and therapists from Inside Spa carried out back massages.

The idea behind the joint initiative was for the two local businesses to work together to promote the importance of health and wellbeing to Daisy staff.

Daisy already has various policies and resources to support staff with health-related or challenging circumstances and promotes health and wellbeing through a number of initiatives and challenges.

Betsy Darlington, HR Manager at Daisy SMB Services, part of the Daisy Group, said: Our Health and Wellbeing Team support over 3,700 employees across the country with a range of health improvement focused initiatives.

We’re constantly looking at new ways in which we can improve our employees’ health and wellbeing and the team at Pendle Leisure Trust were keen to help us achieve our goals and offered to get involved. It was a successful visit which was well received by all staff and we look forward to working with Pendle Leisure Trust in the future.”

Quammer Iqbal, the Trust’s Operations Manager, added: “As the leading provider of leisure and fitness activities in Pendle, I think it’s important we take our knowledge and experience to local organisations.

It’s important that employers look after their staff and encourage them to exercise and it is also beneficial for employers to have fit and healthy employees. Healthy staff means less cost incurred with people being off sick and exercise increases the energy levels of people resulting in greater output.

Fit employees are also less stressed, therefore regular exercise releases the physical and emotional tensions which is more beneficial to both the employee and employer.”
