Pendle Three Peaks 2020

Tuesday, 3rd March 2020

Pendle Leisure Trust staff and fitness members are taking on another huge challenge to raise money for charity.

Back by popular demand – after those who took part two years ago enjoyed it so much – for 2020, the fitness fundraisers will be taking on the Pendle Three Peaks on Saturday, June 6th, climbing Pendle Hill, Weets and Bouldsworth – a total of 27 miles.

The Trust’s Health and Fitness Manager, Luke Allwood, said: “Every year we host a challenge for our members. We have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks a couple of times and last year the challenge, in teams, was to complete as many loops of Pendle Hill as possible in eight hours. But this year, through a unanimous vote, we are doing the Pendle Three Peaks again.

“We always have such a great response from our members who want to challenge themselves and put into practice the training they have done in our gyms leading up to the event.

“It’s a great opportunity to get everyone together for a fun – and testing – day out and it’s always a great team effort with everyone helping each other to reach the finishing line.”

Participants are already preparing themselves for the gruelling task using the fitness facilities at Pendle Leisure Trust’s centres – Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson; Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne; Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Nelson and West Craven Sports Centre, Barnoldswick.

They will be raising money for Pendleside Hospice and the Trust’s Good Life Project - a community allotment in Nelson which aims to help adults with mental health issues integrate back into the community.

And the fundraising has already begun, with a fantastic contribution from one of Pendle Leisure Trust's fitness equipment suppliers Gym Gear, plus other donations from Marsden Building Society and Sportmax who supply the Trust with leisure equipment.
