Tai Chi in Pendle’s Parks raises £120

Friday, 4th September 2020

This year’s Summer Tai Chi in Pendle’s Parks raised £120 for the Mayor of Pendle's charities.

Everyone who attended the events - run by David Pelling and Helena Kean from Lighthouse Tai Chi - paid £1 which was donated to the numerous charities.

The events - held alternately at Marsden Park and Victoria Park in Nelson every Sunday in August - were sponsored by Pendle Borough Council, Pendle Leisure Trust, Marsden Building Society and Questant Camargue Ltd.

Booking, track and trace data collection and pre-registration was done at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne and Marsden Building Society provided promotional goodie bags, including rain ponchos, which came in very handy for the final session at Victoria Park!

Helena said: “Rather than our usual 100 places capacity, we were limited to just 30, but every place was booked for all of the events, which we were very pleased with.

“Weather conditions play a big factor in the attendance figures, but we always seem to part the clouds during our outdoor sessions – and participants always come prepared for the British weather!

“We worked closely with Pendle Council to make sure we were compliant with pandemic restrictions, making sure people felt safe to attend and participate and the feedback from participants and supporting organizations was immensely positive and appreciative.

“David and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make these events possible and everyone who attended – and helped to contribute towards the Mayor of Pendle’s chosen charities.”
