West Craven man applies for 'dream job!'

Tuesday, 25th February 2020

Training at West Craven Sports Centre and a lifetime of sports and outdoor pursuits have encouraged a West Craven man to apply for ‘possibly the best job ever!’

Matt Henderson has applied for a job with Neilson Active Holidays as their Active Ambassador for 2020.

He said: “The role will involve sharing my passion for the activities I love and promoting an active lifestyle - hopefully inspiring others to try new activities and get moving - through blogs, vlogs and social media.

“It will also help me to promote the fantastic facilities and staff at West Craven Sports Centre - somewhere that’s become a significant part of my day-to-day life.

“I have been a member for six years and use the facilities on average five times a week for swimming, classes and the gym. It’s no understatement to say there’s a fabulous sense of belonging as a member - there is a warm and very friendly ‘family’ feeling and a relaxed sense of fun through classes.

“The staff are very professional and have helped me both with technique in the pool and varying my training in the gym.”

The active and inspirational grandad – a volunteer with the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme - has enjoyed a life of boxing, climbing, caving, cross-country skiing, canoeing, running, swimming, snowboarding and is an overall outdoor enthusiast - added: “Neilson Active Holidays want someone who is an energetic and motivated give-it-a-go individual - someone with a zest for life and a passion for helping others – and I feel that’s just me!

“This job isn’t about promoting ‘extreme’ or high octane sports, it’s about connecting with and encouraging ordinary people – of diverse abilities and ages - to enable everyone the chance to be more active as individuals or as families, improving the quality of their health and life.

“The first stage of the selection process is a public vote and I’m hoping the people of Pendle will help me clinch my dream job.”
