West Craven Sports Centre celebrates its 20th Anniversary!

Monday, 17th July 2017

On August 23rd, West Craven Sports Centre celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

To mark the occasion of the original public pool becoming a sports centre – when it was officially opened by Bobby Charlton in 1997 - the Barnoldswick sports centre is throwing open its doors and inviting everyone to go along and see what it now has to offer.

An Open Day is being held between 10am and 1.30pm on Sunday, August 20th with fun for all the family to enjoy. There will be class demonstrations, come and try sessions, training and nutrition advice, a bouncy castle and soft play area, giveaways, half price swims, a pool inflatable and everyone who attends will be entered in to a free prize draw.

Visitors can join in a fitness class, have a game of badminton or try Tai Chi, and there will be Rugby Tots and Turtle Tots for the youngsters to sample.

Assistant Manager at West Craven Sports Centre, Sam Bowden, said: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone and feel we have come a long way since the centre was opened 20 years ago.

“We want to acknowledge this momentous occasion by showcasing our facilities and activities and invite everyone to come along and join in the fun.

“Bring your swimwear or come in your fitness clothes so you can join in the numerous classes and activities; there really will be something for all ages to enjoy and take part in.”
