Mayor’s Challenge: Four Weeks to go!

Friday, 12th April 2019

The Mayor of Pendle’s challenge is well underway and there’s only four weeks left until his final task of climbing Pendle Hill!

Since the beginning of January, Councillor James Starkie has been on a mission to lose weight and shape up to raise funds for additional swimming lessons for Pendle children who need extra help learning to swim.

Councillor Starkie has overhauled his diet from unhealthy food and drink to healthier alternatives and attended regular gym sessions and fitness classes.

With the help of Pendle Leisure Trust’s fitness instructors, the Mayor of Pendle has now lost an impressive one stone and ten pounds in weight and fourteen inches, after thirteen weeks.

He’s also still just as determined to reach the summit of Pendle Hill – and he’s inviting everyone to come along and join him!

Meet Councillor Starkie at the top of Pendle Hill at 1pm on Saturday 11 May 2019.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it on the day, you can still show your support by donating to Councillor Starkie’s JustGiving fundraising to help children of Pendle learn how to swim – click here to donate.
