Janet’s Triathlon Challenge

Tuesday, 21st May 2019

Slimming World group leader, Janet Barnes, has taken on the challenge of a triathlon and training has begun.

Each year, Janet Barnes, of Barrowford Slimming World, sets herself a new challenge. Over the years she has skydived, completed a fire walk and last year she took to the skies again for a wing walk!

This year, Janet has challenged herself to complete the York Triathlon on Sunday, 14th July, in order to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

Janet said: “Every year I do a challenge for the hospice, last year I did a wing walk. This Triathlon challenge, however, will take a bit of effort, so Pendle Leisure Trust’s fitness instructors are helping me get fit.

With Slimming World’s healthy eating plan and a structured exercise routine with Pendle Leisure Trust, plus a bit of grit and determination, I’m hoping I can complete the course.”

Janet’s training plan includes swimming, cycling and running, as well as gym sessions, as the Triathlon includes a 200m swim, 9k cycle and a 2.5k run.

We’ll be checking in with Janet on her progress over the next few weeks and you can follow her journey throughout our blog series.
