Jessica Foxley Unsigned - Finalists making a lot of noise!

Monday, 10th August 2015

Europe's Best Blues Festival may be a couple of weeks away, but some of the artistes set to perform at this year's Festival are already making a lot of noise!

Each year, Colne's Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival welcomes the best in unsigned Blues talent to audition for their chance to perform at the Festival as part of the Jessica Foxley Unsigned initiative. Formed in 2010, the initiative was set up in memory of Jessica, a talented musician who worked at The Muni Theatre Box Office in Colne, who died the previous year in a car crash at the age of 21.

Auditions were massively oversubscribed as judges were inundated with some of the best talent the UK has to offer. Seven acts won over judges and now have the opportunity to perform at this year's Festival. Many of which already boast a strong, cult following but it is at The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival where they will truly get the opportunity to kick-start their career in front of the masses. Many of the artistes are already forging a name for themselves, with local press outlets dedicating column inches to the talented winners. Here's a taster:

Festival organiser, Alison Goode, said: “The standard of the musicians who applied this year was remarkable. Once again we have found some really talented young people who can showcase themselves and their music at this fantastic event.”

For the last 26 years, Colne’s Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival has drawn in both national, and international lovers of blues music with the bands chosen now earning their opportunity to write themselves into the legacy. Find out more about the winners here.
